Diltiazem Side Effects

Diltiazem is in the group of the medicines that acts as a calcium channel blocker.  It is used to cure hypertension, severe chest pain and arrhythmia (irregular heart beat).

However the patients are required to take diltiazem with a full glass of water. It is not recommended to drink alcohol during diltiazem intake.
Even though you have to discuss it first with your doctor do not take diltiazem with grapefruit juice.

 

Be careful before using it if:

  • You have low blood pressure
  • Sick sinus syndrome
  • Heart Failure
  • Heart Block

 

 

Diltiazem Side Effects

Contact directly your doctor if you have one or more of the following symptoms occur:

 

 

  • a red, blistering skin rash;
  • swelling in your hands or feet;
  • trouble breathing;
  • slow heartbeats;
  • dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeat;
  • upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • severe skin reaction — fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes
  • dizziness or lightheadedness
